April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July. She began guitar and piano lessons at seven years old. Her interest in creating songs was sparked. When she was in seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. The lessons sparked her passion to write songs. At 14 old, she dedicated the majority of her time developing song ideas as well as perfecting the song. Then, she began taking trips to NY and LA along with her dad in order for them both write songs. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for the people in her life who are struggling in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular cosmetics brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. She was not born having a left-handed hand, which is what makes her the person she is. But that's far from all the facts. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability in her posts on Instagram, however she isn't making it the focal point of the post. What message is it sending? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our physical and identity bodies aren't what appear. Lockhart talks via video in Nashville. "I don't intend to let it define my life. I'm not looking to be only recognized as an expert in disabilities. This doesn't interfere with my daily life. All is well and I have learned to adjust. The same is true for my life, and I think it's something that needs to be addressed. Lockhart who is an inspiration for self-acceptance in general and is currently on a lengthy process to attain the goal. Lockhart admits to having been through a few phases in her body, and felt uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased the arms of her. She can wear whatever she'd like, and happily shares pictures of her wearing these clothes. Self-love, she says is a process. I'm not sure when you'll reach the point of no return. But I think that's for everyone, whatever they are struggling with. I think it's essential to surround yourself with people who are able to see and know your true heart.
